Dear friends,
For the summer many classes have paused. Only Bowman's Walk and Lans Haven are currently running, I believe.
Recently in Panama teachers have been advised to not shut down their classes for the summer. Sometimes it really breaks the rhythm to pause the class and restarting it can be bumpy. Also, it may be possible to even loose touch with some of the families.
However often the children loose track of time during the summer and it is much more easy to forget about the class. This only matters if it is the children who get themselves to the class and who remind their parents about it. Also, many families sometimes go off on vacation during the summer weeks.
Sometimes we teachers may feel like we need to catch our breath, but for the class to be truly sustainable, I think that rather than stopping it for a bit, we should figure out how to simplify the class in such a way that it doesn't tire us out so much to keep teaching it week after week.
